This document describes how we treat personal information when you use our products and services.
General
- To be able to sign up for, and use, Dashnotes you need to submit personal information. We will do our outmost to fulfill the trust you have placed in us by doing so.
- We never disclose any of your information to third parties, except to provide products or services you've requested, unless required to do so by law or during specific situations as outlined below under "Personal Information".
Sign up
- To be able to use Dashnotes and its services and products, you need to create your own dashnotes site and your personal dashnotes account. When creating your dashnotes site and your account, we will ask a few personal questions to being able to identify your account, including a valid email adress.
- When upgrading to a paid account, we will need some personal information in order to complete the online payment and create a valid receipt for you. By agreeing to the terms when converting your free account into a paid account, you have also agreed to supply Dashnotes with the necessary personal information.
Personal information
- You need a Dashnotes account to access Dashnotes. In order to create a working Dashnotes account, you need to provide a valid email address.
- Dashnotes stores, processes and maintains your documents, files, messages, contact list, todo lists, calendar event and other data you choose to store in you Dashnotes account in order to provide the Service to you.
- When you use Dashnotes, our servers automatically record certain information about your use of the Service. Similar to other web services, Dashnotes records information such as account activity (including storage usage, number of log-ins), data displayed or clicked on (including UI elements, and links); and other log information (including browser type, IP-address, date and time of access, cookie ID, and referrer URL).
- Dashnotes may send you information or news related to your account at any time.
- We collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail, aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit, and information volunteered by the consumer (such as survey information and/or site registrations). The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Web pages and the quality of our Service, and is not shared with or sold to other organizations for commercial purposes, except to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:
- It is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.
- We transfer information about you if Dashnotes is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, we will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- Dashnotes uses collected information for the following general purposes: products and services provision, billing, identification and authentication, services improvement, contact, and research.
Cookies
A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and stored on your computer's hard drive.
- Cookies are required to use the Dashnotes service.
- We use cookies to record current session information, and to remember language settings and account name between sessions to make usage easier for you. You are required to log-in to your Dashnotes site after a certain period of time has elapsed to protect you against others accidentally accessing your Content.
Information sharing and onward transfer
- The information on your Dashnotes site are available to all members of your Dashnotes site by default. To limit this availability, it is the individual user's responsibililty to use the access tools available.
- If you or anyone sharing your Dashnotes site, have notifications turned on, you will be notified about new items, updates and changes to the Content of your Dashnotes site. The notification may contain abbrieviated information about the Content published on your Dashnotes site, including some personal information. Notifications from your Dashnotes site are only available to members of that site.
- You and members of your Dashnotes site, can turn on public sharing of specific documents. You may invite external users to view these pages using a specific URL. There is however no password protection, and anyone finding the page can view it.
Your choices
- You may change your Dashnotes account settings through the "account" and "settings" section. Some settings can only be changed by the admin of your Dashnotes site.
- You may organize or delete your Content through your Dashnotes account or, if you are the admin of your Dashnotes site, also terminate your site. Such deletions or terminations will take immediate effect in your account view. Residual copies of deleted content and accounts may take up to 60 days to be deleted from our active servers and may remain in our offline backup systems.
Changes
Dashnotes may periodically update our terms and policies. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your Dashnotes primary account holder account or by placing a prominent notice on our site.
